Flute Masterpieces

On this CD a number of works in various styles and from different centuries are represented. The selection has been made by composer and flautist Franco Cesarini, who has carefully adapted the originals to suit the technique and unique expressive nature of the flute. The resulting arrangements and transcriptions are true ‘flute masterpieces’. Franco Cesarini presents the works as a flute soloist, together with Anna Somaschini at the piano.

The CD takes the listener from the world of the Baroque, to music by the French pre-impressionists of the 19th century. Great masters like Bach, Chopin, Elgar, Dvorák, Massenet, Saint-Saëns and others are featured: brilliant works – in which the virtuoso character of the flute is especially noticeable – alternate with works in a cantabile style.
