After Mexican Pictures (1990), Mosaici Bizantini (1993) and Poema Alpestre (1999), all three released by Mitropa Music under the prestigious Masterwork Series, Franco Cesarini’s name, in addition to gaining high reputation all over the world, has been associated with demanding composition of high difficulty grade.
Five of the seven pieces featured in this CD – Variations on a French Folk Song, Greek Folk Song Suite, Ukrainian Rhapsody, Pastorale de Provence, Le Cortège du Roi Renaud – are of medium difficulty grade and convey in superlative music the composer’s fascination for traditions and folk music coming from all over Europe.
With Convergents Franco Cesarini has succeeded in composing a piece suitable for both concerts or contests which whilst not being too difficult still has the feel of a major work.
A Festival Anthem gives an extra touch to this CD.
